We kindly ask for your patience! During this tea campaign almost all of our teas will arrive
(heavily) delayed. Usually it takes four to five weeks for the container ships from Kolkata
via Singapore to Rotterdam or Hamburg. Now the ships will stop in different ports along the
way and need six to eight weeks before they reach their destination. Those delays were
unannounced and unexpected. The reason behind is “slow steaming”. Slower transits shall
lead to improved capacity of trading vessels and reduce fuel costs.
So all we can do now is cling to the German proverb: Wait and have a cup of tea (of 2009)…
