Pure Darjeeling – a protected geographical indication
"Champagne" is a classic example. Only sparkling bottle-fermented wine from the French region of the Champagne may be called by this name.
For Darjeeling Tea applies the same, it is indigenous to the region of Darjeeling. Its incomparable quality is the result of its local climate, soil conditions, altitude and meticulous processing. The tea has its own special aroma and is being savoured by connoisseurs all over the world.

"Darjeeling" is not always Darjeeling. The Tea Board of India, the official Indian tea authority, estimates that up to 40,000 tons a year are sold as "Darjeeling" worldwide, although the district of Darjeeling only produces max. 10,000 tons a year.
The Tea Board has been engaged in the protection and preservation of genuine Darjeeling tea ever since. It has developed a unique Darjeeling logo as a seal of authenticity and awards licenses to companies that sell 100% pure Darjeeling.
We are dedicated to the protection of pure genuine Darjeeling. Instead of creating our own logo we proudly use the Tea Board of India’s seal for 100% pure Darjeeling. We were also the first company in Germany to sign a license agreement with the Tea Board of India to guarantee that we only buy and sell pure Darjeeling Tea. You will find it on each of our packages.
