Darjeeling teas and their characteristics
Black Darjeeling or Green Darjeeling? All our teas are from the same bushes.
The time of harvest and the method of production define if the tea is for example a First Flush Black Tea or an unfermented Green Darjeeling.
All of our Darjeeling Teas are certified organic. At Teekampagne you will only find the highest leaf quality FTGFOP1 (Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe). Additionally a lot of our teas are certified by Naturland as well.
Darjeeling First Flush
You like your tea light and flowery?
You should try our First Flush! First Flush Darjeeling comes from the first harvest after winter and is plucked around end of February to the end of April. It is a black tea with a lot of silvery tips and a light and flowery flavor.
Darjeeling Second Flush
You like your tea with a bit more body?
Enjoy the amber-golden color and the mellow taste of our Second Flush! Its leaves are plucked during the second harvest in Darjeeling, from June till mid-July. As the intensity of the sun gets stronger during the summer, so does the flavor of this black tea.
You want to taste something exclusive?
For tea connoisseurs, we have something special: Darjeeling Garden Tea! Also known as Single Estate Tea, a tea of this designation is not a blend from different tea gardens, but is obtained from one of the more exclusive tea gardens among the 87 tea gardens in Darjeeling. Under the category of Garden Tea you will find offers of First Flush or Second Flush teas as well as Green Teas, depending on availability.
Darjeeling Selected Tea
You want a lot without spending much?
All our teas offer great value at an unbelievable low price.
However, our Selected Darjeeling (black tea) could just be the right choice for you.
This tea is carefully chosen from different periods of harvesting. Taste-wise it resembles First Flush but has a darker and slightly fuller cup. Since we don’t stick only to teas from the higher priced First or Second Flush season we can buy the tea at a lesser price. This saving of costs we share with you by selling this tea at a very attractive and affordable price.
You want a tea that has not been fermented?
Then you will find our Green Darjeeling is the perfect tea for you.
Green Darjeeling is made from the same tea bushes as black tea, just the process of production differs (see more on tea production). Green Darjeeling has a mild and refreshing taste, with a flavourful edge of tannin. Green Darjeeling is usually harvested before winter season starts. That’s why part of it will only reach us in the beginning of the next calendar year.
